As kids, we always found our own ways to escape studies. Whether it was pretending to be sick or pleading for more play time, we would somehow manage to get away from those boring textbooks.
But could you imagine locking yourself up and confining away from the world for not a day or two, but years? All of this, just to avoid studying? Well, this is the reality that a pair of siblings in Haridwar decided to live with!
In a shocking case that came out, a teenage brother-sister duo in Haridwar had locked themselves up for four years to avoid studying.

Yes, you read that right, the brother-sister duo had been confined to a single room in their house for four long years.
It was the sister who locked herself up first in 2013, after her parents scolded her for not scoring good marks in class 10 board exams. She had since then stopped going to school and had been living in the same room for over three years.
Soon enough, following his sister’s footsteps, the brother too decided to drop out of school and lock himself up in 2016.
The incident came to notice after the neighbors complained to police about not having seen the kids since a long time. According to a report in Times Of India, Here is what the police said,
What came out as even more shocking is the statement the 18-year-old teenager gave to the police.
“During questioning, the girl, who appeared like she had not bathed for days, or even months, said that she was fed up of her parents constantly nagging her to carry on with her schooling so she locked herself up in her room.”
They further found out that the daughter was only communicating with her parents through hand written notes or mobile phone.
However surprisingly enough, both the brother-sister duo would open the door whenever they would feel hungry and ask for food.
“She would only open the door to demand food from her mother.”
The police is now planning to help the children and the parents by providing them counseling and helping them attain a different mindset towards studies.

Well, we hope the counseling helps both the parents and the children to come to a point of normalcy and understanding.
