YouTubers Dress Up As Ghosts & Prank People At Night, Get Arrested By Bengaluru Police

Some pranks are fun like convincing your mom you’re dating Keanu Reeves. Some are totally adorable like when a pet doggo tries to scare its hooman. But others are downright weird (read freaky kissing pranks) and sometimes even dangerous.

According to The Hindu, 7 Bengaluru students who own a YouTube channel named ‘Kooky Pedia’ filmed a ‘Ghost Prank’ video that landed them in jail.

They wore wigs and painted their faces blood red to scare road users in the middle of the night. Their motive? Filming the prank and uploading it on YouTube to gain views and subscribers (inspired by Australian content creators, Jalals). A cop from Yeshwanthpur police station that received various complaints was quoted saying,

“The youngsters hailed from RT Nagar areas but were from different colleges. They were intercepting pedestrians and motorists acting as ghosts in white robes. While one of them acted dead, the others stood around him scaring people.”

The Indian Express reports that the students were identified as Shaan Malik, Naveed, Sakib, Syed Nabil, Yusif Ahmed, Sajil Mohammed, and Mohammed Ayub. The Times of India quoted a police officer saying,

“We registered a case of criminal intimidation, causing public nuisance and unlawful gathering at public places. The charges are bailable and we released them on station bail after warning them not to repeat the offence.”

Officials have warned others against playing such pranks where unsuspecting people might get hurt, suffer a cardiac arrest or meet with an accident on the road.

Planning and executing pranks can be hilarious and entertaining but definitely not at the cost of hurting others, don’t you agree?
