Bollywood actors Genelia D’Souza and Riteish Deshmukh have been giving us #CoupleGoals for over a decade now. While they have been happily married for 9 years now, things didn’t start off on quite the right foot, they revealed recently. They shared an incident that happened on the sets of their debut film ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ which changed the course of their journey for the better.
As per a report in HT, Genelia initially thought that Riteish would be a ‘rich, very connected brat’ being the son of former Maharastra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh. It was only when they started talking that she was able to let go of her preconceived notions and realize that he is a ‘normal boy’ who doesn’t have security tagging along with him.
Genelia revealed her side of the story saying, “Honestly, I thought that Riteish is this rich, very connected brat, so I shouldn’t look at him and talk to him, so I didn’t.”
She continued, “He was wondering why am I not talking. He was very sweet, so I wanted to talk to him, but I was like, one shouldn’t feel that I am talking to you because you are the chief minister’s son and all of that. But anyway, we started talking, and then we never stopped for the next 18 years.”
Riteish, on the other hand, recalled the exact day when she finally started talking to him. He narrated, “At one point, I remember sitting for a shot on a bench in Ramoji Film City. They were shifting some lights. We were sitting on a bench and she looked at me and said, ‘Where is your security? Are they in the bush?’ I said, ‘What security? I don’t have any.’ That’s what changed, that this is a normal boy who roams around without security.”
Earlier this month, on their 9th wedding anniversary, Genelia shared a cute video of themselves, captioning it, “Dearest @riteishd, You don’t find love, it finds you, It’s got a little bit to do with destiny,fate, what’s written in the stars and a lot to do with special kind of you. There is no me without you.. I’m totally madly, crazy in love you. Happy Anniversary Love.” Check out the post here:
The lovebirds tied the knot in the year 2012, and now have two sons together- Rahyl and Riaan. We wish them even more years of togetherness and bliss!
