Every fashion lover will know that the fashion is not just about the clothes. Fashion lies in the story and in the attitude. If you are and avid fashion follower, then you might be following certain designers, magazines, fashion festivals etc. But, have you ever decided to follow fashion movies? Yes, it’s not a labeled genre, but that doesn’t mean some movies don’t carry authentic style.

Starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard, the film is about a naive, eccentric cafe society girl who is looking for a rich man to marry. But eventually, she becomes interested in a young man who has moved into her apartment building.

 

3. Blow-Up (1966)

You won’t find a better movie if you want to see the 60s style in full glory. The story is about a fashion photographer who attempts to unravel a provocative murder mystery after finding something very suspicious in the shots of a mysterious beauty in a desolate park.

 

4. Bonnie and Clyde (1967)

This biographical crime film directed by Arthur Penn tells the story of the two notoriously violent bank-robbing couple and their gang. This movie triggered a fashion revolution. It single-handedly brought berets back into style and triggered the move from the mini-skirts of the mid-’60s to the maxi.

 

5. Annie Hall (1977)

A smart and intelligent aspiring journalist and new graduate, Andy, lands a job in a fashion magazine called Runway. She starts evolving under her demanding and fierce editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly, until she realizes that she has started to become like her.

A New York writer on sex and love, Carrie Bradshaw, finally decides to get married to the love of her life, Mr. Big. After he gets nervous and leaves her at the altar, her three best friends accompany her to Mexico to cheer her up.

 

10. Coco Before Chanel (2009)

Directed by Anne Fontaine, the movie is about one of the greatest fashion icons of all times, Coco Chanel. Her journey from obscure beginnings to the heights of the fashion world is really inspiring. She came from nothing and built an empire.

 

11. A Single Man (2009)

Tom Ford’s directorial debut is one of the most visually appealing movies you will see. The story is about an English professor who is unable to cope after the sudden death of his boyfriend.

 

12. The September Issue (2009)

The film showcases the behind-the-scenes drama that went into the production of the September 2007 issue of American Vogue magazine. Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour’s preparations and her staff working on the fashion fall issue is a treat to watch.
