Whenever someone talks about engagement rings, it is common to hear the names of metals (gold, silver, platinum), stones (diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires) and settings (halo, pave, prong, split shank etc). But have you ever heard the words ‘engagement ring’ and ‘hair’ being used together in a single sentence? Sounds bizarre but it happened.
A woman excitedly announced her engagement to her boyfriend and as is customary, also showed off her ring on social media. But people were shocked to see that it was made out of his own hair.
Soon enough, her post was shared on a Facebook group, ‘That’s It, I’m Ring Shaming: Can’t Stop Won’t Stop’ and went viral. The bizarre ring made everyone feel disgusted and they didn’t hesitate in saying so either. A few took comfort in the fact that it was a temporary arrangement until a woven band came along. One netizen questioned,
“Why just why.”
While another was more specific.
“Hair from what part of his body?”
Most people agreed that they wouldn’t wear such a ring, no matter what.
“Boyfie? Also, no matter how much I love the dude I don’t think I’d ever in a million years wear his hair on my finger.”
While it is common for people to exchange toy rings or ring pop lollipops (like Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner), this is a different story altogether, don’t you think?
