Desi parents have weird ways of showing their love and affection. Other parents might say ‘I love you’, but our parents will ask ‘Khana khaya?’ They are a tough nut to crack but once you learn to understand ‘their’ language, you’ll see that they love you and are proud of you to bits, even when it seems like they don’t. 🙂
For example, a guy named Aradhya took to Twitter to share a WhatsApp screenshot showing his latest conversation with his desi dad. He scored a perfect 10 SGPA on his Engineering exams and sent a picture of the mark sheet to him. On the other hand, the father said “Setting kar li”.

In the past, there have been several incidents like this. Desi kids shared how their dads speak to them formally, how their mom roasts them for not having a boyfriend or a girlfriend, or the parents never saying “I am proud of you”.
