Desi parents are in a league of their own, from the way they respond to our achievements to keep us humble or the typical reactions they have when we start dating. But no doubt, we love them to bits and pieces.
A Twitter user shared a relatable text message he received from his dad reminding him to send his bank statement. The formal way in which the message was written struck a chord with many desi kids online.
Why does my father text me like he's writing an email to the manager? pic.twitter.com/ZXHHZv5fhY

I sent some grocery items on amazon pantry to my home. Little did I think this would be my father’s response 😅 pic.twitter.com/EJHCNeTeLs

Alas, my Dad, such a wonderful kind soul, is no more, but this is the view from the other side: my twenty-year-old daughter at the check-in desk for an international flight messaging me with an end-of-the-world gravitas she’s sometimes capable of. pic.twitter.com/GVJdfWvdNK

Others shared hilarious past instances of their dads not snapping out of their work mode while talking to them:
My father ends phone calls with me with “okay, thank you, have a good day” like I’m his office colleague or something
— Sad Mandalorian (@SadMandalorian) June 24, 2021
Lol my dad used to pick up my calls and say “Hellogoodmorning” using his office voice
— Away, foul fiend! (@twentytwobyPai) June 24, 2021
Ahahahahahaha. Reminds me of the time when my dad was working at a corporate and would pick up the phone and go ‘Hello, this is Sandeep’. I was 10 years old back then and would be like yes I know who you are??
— Shagun Ohri (@ShagunOhri) June 24, 2021
Yeah, mine used to say ‘er Krishnan bol raha hun’ to us on phone out of habit – exactly what he used to say to his colleagues at the steel plant

My dad sometimes says best wishes or many thanks like I’m a tiresome colleague and he’s so glad I finally did something right (I mean he’s not wrong but it’s so funny)

so does mine! after thinking a lot about it i’ve realized it’s bc formal conversations and exchanges were his introduction to english. bc of the household we come from, eventually it became the only space he used english in regularly and this is the result lol
