Mom Fights Off Armed Kidnappers To Save 4-YO Daughter In Delhi, Watch Video

Horrific cases of kidnapping have often made it into the news. But brave stories of people who are able to prevent such acts give us strength and hope. Whether it was the 11-year old Mizoram student who saved a little girl from kidnappers or the 10-year old boy who chased abductors to save his brother, many inspiring stories of such daring souls make our day.

As per the report in NDTV, a similar event unfolded in the Sunder Block locality of East Delhi where a kidnapping attempt of a 4-year old girl was bravely thwarted by the child’s mother and her two neighbors. Their courage and presence of mind are being lauded by everyone after the videos went viral as the entire scene was caught on CCTV cameras. Check out the videos here:-

Around 4 PM, two men riding on a black Pulsar stopped by the little girl’s home asked the mother for some water. While she was distracted, they grabbed the girl and tried to escape. In the video, we can see the mother swiftly swooping in and grabbing her child back out of their clutches. One of the kidnappers is thrown off the bike and runs away as she attempts to hold on to the bike to prevent the second man from running away.

Alerted by their screams, the neighbors swiftly respond. The neighbor who was already present further down the gully responded by blocking the narrow path with his bike in order to not let them escape. He then pushed the bike-borne kidnapper to one side and tackled the other one with the help of the second neighbour.

The Hindu reports that while the kidnappers ultimately fled the scene, they left their bike and backpack behind, which served as important clues for the Delhi Police to find the absconders. “A call regarding the attempt of the kidnapping of a child was received at Police Station Shakarpur on July 21. Immediately the staff of Police Station Shakarpur reached the spot and it was found that the accused person had left a bike with a fake number plate. A black color bag containing a country-made pistol with four live cartridges was found,” the police said.

The registration number on the bike was found to be fake, but the police were still able to track its owner named Dheeraj, who is a resident of Jagat Puri and even has a daughter of his own. He confessed that the child’s paternal uncle Upender was behind this kidnapping attempt.

“Upender knew Dheeraj from the past and hatched a conspiracy to kidnap the daughter of his real brother and promised to give him Rs 1 lakh. A raid was conducted to nab at his house but he was absconding. However, after making sincere efforts, police apprehended Upender,” the police added. “He disclosed that he was in acute shortage of funds whereas his brother was quite well off,” the police concluded.

Upender, struck by jealousy, wanted to hold his niece ransom and extort Rs. 35 lakh out of the child’s father, who is a successful cloth merchant and owns a garment store in Gandhi Nagar. An FIR under Section 363, 511, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and also a section of the Arms Act was registered at Shakarpur Police Station.

The two fleeing kidnappers have also now finally been nabbed by the Shakurpur police. See the picture below:-

Hats off to the spirited mother and neighbors for their quick-thinking which saved the life of the child!
