Shahid Kapoor’s “Dekhte Dekhte” Song Lyrics Give Birth To Hilarious Transformation Memes

dekhte dekhte

You people remember when Bollywood used to make some amazing original music? Yeah, good times. For the past few years though, the industry seems to have taken the recycling route. Not out of concern for the environment though. More like just cashing in on the success of classics. Pretty lazy if you ask them.

And it’s ever the more unfortunate that this would happen in a culturally rich country like ours where we have no dearth of talented writers and lyricists. But no, let’s just leave them playing the role of the struggling artist and revamp old fan favourites with some bass.

The Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu‘ did the same revamping the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sufi track “Sochta Hoon Ke”.

The song titled “Dekhte dekhte” has been sung by Atif Aslam and is quite pleasant to listen to, to be honest. Yes, I’m a hypocrite who feeds every rubbish Bollywood feeds me while grumbling about it.

The internet, however, has found an amusing use of the song. Particularly the lyrics “Sochta hu ke vo kitne masoom the kya se kya ho gaye dekhte dekhte.”

The Twitter meme lords lost no time in making hilarious comparisons using the said lyrics:

1. Anushka’s ‘Sui Dhaga’ meme run continues.

2. Go PC!

3. Is it wrong that my mouth is watering?

4. Talk about a major glow up.

5. Can’t beat Gaitonde’s glow up though.

6. Indian cinema has come a long way.

7. As Trump would say: “FAKE NEWS!”

8. She Longbottomed big time.

9. Arre Babuji, aap bhi?!

10. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

11. To be honest, he’s always been a badass by the looks of it.

12. Mhari choriyan choron se kam hain ke?

Kind of poetic that a revamped song would serve as the base for a transformation meme fest, isn’t it?
