In the past couple of years, you might have heard some interesting views on rape by some politicians. From ‘Chow mein’ causing rape to girl’s in jeans being responsible for any disaster (natural or man-made), these remarks have reached a point which is very far from any kind of logic. Well, we have another one lined up for you.
A senior Samajwadi Party leader from Uttar Pradesh, Totaram Yadav, said on ANI News that ‘rapes happen with the mutual consent of boys and girls’. On being asked that could rapes be controlled, he said, “What is rape? There is nothing as such. Rapes happen with mutual consent of boys and girls.”
This is not the first time a Samajwadi Party leader has violated humanity by his definition of rape. Last year, the party kingpin, Mulayam Singh Yadav commented on the death sentence of three men who were convicted of two gang-rapes in Mumbai by saying, “Should rape cases be punished with hanging? They are boys, they make mistakes.”
