Christina Koch Scripts History, Becomes 1st Woman To Have Spent 328 Days In Space

Women around the world are on a roll. Be it entertainment, army or space, women in every field, right from arts to strength are scripting history one after the other. Recently, Christina Koch added to the list of women’s achievements by making a record-breaking space tour.

The NASA astronaut, successfully completed her spaceflight of 328 days, longest by any woman astronaut and landed on Earth recently. She along with Luca Parmitano of the European Space Agency and Alexander Skvortsov of Russia landed in a snow-clad area of Kazakhstan, 7000 miles away from Houston, reports CBS News.

The record was first held by Peggy Whitson an American woman who completed a single spaceflight of 289 days, reports ET.

This was Koch’s first mission to space. As soon as she landed on Earth, Koch said, “I am so overwhelmed and happy right now.”

Koch’s mission will help NASA study the effect of weightlessness and space radiation on the female body during long spaceflights.

“Women acclimate well to space, so I think this is a milestone that will be overtaken by women in the future and it’s what we aspire to,” said Lori Garver, NASA’s former deputy administrator.

Praise poured in for Koch and her achievement from all over the world. Have a look:

Congratulations, Christina. Kudos to your bravery and talent!
