A person who has had the privilege to live and work in different cities has the knowledge, owing to their experience, to compare the various cities on the basis of housing, transport, infrastructure, food, safety, etc. and the overall cost of living. They get to have a clear idea about which city is the best to live in and people often go to them to seek advice.
Saumil Tripathi, the co-founder and CEO of Grapevine, has lived in Mumbai, Gurgaon, San Francisco and Bangalore. He took to social media to rate the cities on different categories like food, housing, infrastructure, weekend scenes, people, weather, tech ecosystem, etc.
According to Saumil, the infrastructure in Gurgaon is better than Mumbai and Bangalore whereas the people in Mumbai and Bangalore are better than those of Gurgaon. The safety is also more in Mumbai and Bangalore than it is in Gurgaon whereas the food in Gurgaon is a solid 10/10.
As usual, nothing beats the weather and tech ecosystem in Bangalore whereas the weekend scenes are a 9/10 in all the three Indian cities. The housing, on the other hand, is subpar in Bangalore and Mumbai as compared to Gurgaon.

I moved to Bangalore exactly 6 months ago
So I feel like I am qualified by now to rate Bangalore against the other 3 cities that I have lived in before
Please don’t get angry at any of my opinions as they’re obviously subjective and personal:
Food:
Bangalore: 8/10
Gurgaon:…— Saumil (@OnTheGrapevine) August 31, 2023
There were various kinds of reactions from people online. While some agreed to his analysis, others didn’t and had polar opposite reactions. Have a look:
Glad to see there’s a tie on infra scene between Mumbai and Benguluru

Stayed in Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bangalore.
Agreed on all, maybe techbro energy bit higher in Gurgaon than Mumbai.— Shree (@fakjfhhfdaoij) August 31, 2023
Safety first before everything else. What’s the point of a good night scene when you are not safe.

I don’t know about SF, but the others are approx. true as i’ve been in the other three as well

Housing ? Expensive – yes in Bangalore. But I find the apartments nicer than other cities you have mentioned.

Also for weekend scenes Gurgaon has 9/10? How? Cheap alcohol ≠weekend scenes, all the time.
I think 6 months is not enough time to judge a city. Itna time toh keval North-South wali bhasad se bahar aane mei lag jaata before we can appreciate something!— Kartikeya Singh (@Kartikeya23S) August 31, 2023
Rating Gurgaon infra 9/10 means you never stepped away from Golf Course road. You should have known better!
