Hospital Offers Cat A Job As Security Guard After He Pays Visit Everyday For A Year

Remember the adorable doggo who got hired by a car showroom recently because he used to wander outside the showroom every day? A similar incident happened in Melbourne, but with a cat!

According to NDTV, a cat named Elwood loved Epworth Hospital in Richmond so much that every day for a year, it hung around the premises. Seeing his hard work and perseverance, the hospital authorities offered him a job of a ‘security guard’ so he can do what he loves – hang around the hospital!

Chantel Trollip, a Pathologist working at the hospital said:

“I first noticed his ID badge on him in June…which is identical to our actual staff badges down to the call codes on the back.”

The hospital officially confirmed the news in a statement in which they wrote:

“Elwood the cat lives across the road from the hospital’s Erin Street entrance. During the day the playful puss often struts across the road to keep guard and greet patients and staff outside the hospital. The mischievous moggy has been able to snuggle up to security, obtaining his own staff ID pass. At the end of the day, Elwood heads back across the road for a well-earned rest.”

According to Times Now, Elwood has been securing the entrance of the hospital, seeks attention from hoomans, and basks under the sun! That’s pretty much his everyday duty.

“He is lovely and friendly, but not overly affectionate. He enjoys a good pat but likes to keep things short and move around a fair bit. He is on the security team, after all, has to make sure everyone coming and going gets checked,” said the Pathologist.

People on the internet have been loving this news! Many expressed the desire to walk near the hospital premises as well so they too could land up a job!

We hope Elwood gets paid for his services, in cat treats of course!
