Radhika Apte Talks About Her Casting Couch Experience And How She Shut All Of Them Down!

The concept of casting couch is not new to the film industry and until recently was considered a necessary evil. However, a lot of ladies are now coming out about their horrific experiences about being approached for it.

Most recently, Radhika Apte, who starred in the movie ‘Parched’, opened up about her own experience of being approached for casting couch on multiple occasions.

“I think once an actor in South called me on my room phone and tried to get flirtatious and I just was so rude to him. I think he fought with me later on.”

Initially, the actress mentioned that this was the closest she had come to a casting couch experience and which she had confidently rejected.

However, after a trip further down memory lane, Radhika Apte revealed details about one disturbing phone conversation she had had.

“Oh once I got a call. Yes yes wait. Once I got a call and they said ‘they’re doing this film in Bollywood and I want you to have a meeting with them. But would you be okay sleeping with that person?’ And I laughed! I said you’re so funny, you’re very funny and I said no I’m not. Ask him to go to hell (laughs).”

Casting couch must not be taken for granted as a “necessary evil” in the industry. We applaud Radhika Apte for staying classy and breaking this so-called industry convention.
