A cake was baked by the hospital cafeteria and a judge waived the 72-hour waiting period to give them a marriage license. Also, a suit and a chaplain were arranged for the wedding.

Raul and Yvonne had been together for 11 years and were engaged in 2007 before he was diagnosed with cancer. The couple had four children, a biological son and three daughters from Lamas’ previous relationship.

Talking about her wedding, Lamas said that Raul wanted to give her the best fairy-tale wedding.

“When I walked down the aisle and saw him in the suit, he just took my breath away. He was so handsome. It was priceless.”

A friend of the couple streamed the beautiful ceremony on Facebook live. The entire room applauded as the two were pronounced husband and wife.

The union couldn’t last long for the happy couple as Hinojosa passed away just 36 hours after the wedding. But the couple certainly got a wedding to remember and Raul would have left the world smiling.
