18 Hrs After Saying ‘I Do’ In Hospital, Bride Dies Of Cancer And Her Story Will Tear You Up

There is a list of things each one of us wants to achieve or experience before dying. Finding and cherishing one true love is one of them, I believe. Some of us get lucky at spending a long, healthy life with the love of our lives, but some learn to make the most of the limited time they have left.

The latter was the case with Heather Lindsay and David Mosher, a couple who met in 2015.

On 23 December 2016, Heather was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. Although the news was heartbreaking, he decided to make the best of his time left with her. He proposed to her the same day in a beautiful romantic way.

He said to WSFB,

“She didn’t know I was going to propose that night, but I said to myself, she needs to know she’s not going to go down this road alone. A pair of draft horses, a carriage, and I arranged it all for that night. We went out on the carriage ride and I proposed to her under a street light.”

The wedding was to take place on 30 December 2017. But since Heather’s condition worsened, it was moved up to 22 December, just before Christmas.

The pictures were captured by Christina Karas, bridesmaid to Heather and also the one who helped her plan the wedding. She said,

“She was so hopeful. The way we would talk about it, you always kind of felt this isn’t it.”

As per a report by The Daily News, the wedding took place in the chapel of the St. Francis Hospital, Connecticut, with the couple surrounded by their friends and family.

1. A mother is always the strongest support you can ask for.

Heather's mother, Linda Lindsay, poured out light, love and support on Heather and all of us who were there with her. The amount of strength her mom showed could only be possible because of her unwavering faith in God, despite the certainty she would lose her only daughter on this earth. Her outpouring of selfless love reminded me of Heather's reaction to tragedy in other's lives. Heather has shown me this same care when I was in a very dark and hopeless place. She learned this language of love from her family and was able to comfort others in this same way. Like mother like daughter. Missing you this Christmas morning, Heather, but I know you are celebrating with the one who gives us the real joy and peace of the Christmas season. Sing and dance with the angels for me today. Merry Christmas my dear friend!

2. The couple in love exchanged their vows in presence of their loved ones.

3. The joy of this moment reflected in their smiles and the love in their eyes.

4. The victorious moment when she was afraid of nothing.

But as fate would have it, Heather passed away merely 18 hours after saying “I do”. Her wedding vows were her last words, and my heart is breaking into a million little pieces as I tell you this.

When David saw the picture of Heather throwing up her hands in the air, he was overwhelmed and said,

“It reminds me of someone who is crossing the finish line of a marathon or something.”

The picture has since gone viral and is touching millions of hearts, like mine. And for those 18 hours of her life, she was living her fairytale, she was surrounded by the people she loves, and the ones who love her, till death did them apart. Literally.

It is a tragic beauty when you see someone so in love with such little time to embrace it. Also reminds us how short life really is. So seize the day, my friend, carpe diem.
