Bihar DGP Seeks Voluntary Retirement & Stars In Music Video By Bigg Boss Contestant

Bihar Police officers have never failed to grab headlines with their unique approaches in carrying out their duties. For instance, showing up to criminals’ homes with band-baaja for a musical arrest, or making offenders buy helmets and insurance instead of issuing challans when caught. And their creativity continues post-retirement as well, it seems. Read on.

As per a report in India Today, Bihar’s DGP (Director General of Public) and 1987-batch IPS officer Gupteshwar Pandey was seen starring in a music video titled ‘Robinhood Bihar Ke’ sung and composed by former Bigg Boss contestant Deepak Thaur, soon after the top cop announced his voluntary retirement from the police service (VRS) on September 22, 2020.

Deepak Thakur took to Instagram to share a poster of the music video:-

The description of the YouTube video under the channel ‘DT Production’ calls 59-year old Pandey as “pride of Bihar and nation” and further states, “He has been supporting youths for years and so the people gives him the title of Robinhood in Bihar. So guys it’s a tribute from us to him. This is not only a song but it is an emotion which we feel from the bottom of our heart.”

For the uninitiated, Robin Hood is originally a legendary heroic outlaw of English folklore who stole from the rich to help the poor.

In the video, Pandey is picturized as being busy with work at the police station, with shots from various different angles. Deepak meanwhile can be seen singing in praise of the cop and calling him “yaaron ka yaar” and “janta ke hero” while sitting on the bonnet of an SUV. The lyrics also include how thieves shiver and pray to gods hearing Pandey’s name, while the background music repeatedly plays the sound of gunshots throughout the video.
