Do you know where the problem lies with our society? We have normalised bad male behavior by not holding men accountable or reprimanding them for it. Men think that they can get away with problematic behavior and not face any sort of repercussions whatsoever because, for generations, women have kept quiet or have not been taken seriously by their surrounding people when they have tried to report cases of sexual harassment, abuse or assault.
Thankfully, one woman did in Bengaluru. Immediately.
A guy named Chandan, who works as a gas cylinder delivery boy in Bengaluru, made a bet with his friends that he could spank a female employee at the hotel they were at, namely Nammoota Hotel in the Vijayanagar. And so he did when she was standing near the cash counter, while his other friends looked on and enjoyed.
The female employee immediately raised a hue and cry, holding the man accountable for his actions. She “strongly objected” and confronted him, making people around her gather them. Chandan claimed that he was innocent and got into an argument with her. Sensing trouble, the three men fled the hotel. Nevertheless, a police complaint was filed by the woman against the accused and with the help of CCTV footage, the man was nabbed.
In their investigation, the police found that Chandan and his group used to plan visits to hotels where they would target young girls and women. They had a habit of touching girls inappropriately. One of them used to do it, while the others watched and “enjoyed”, revealed reports.
