There is a running joke amongst people who have lived or travelled to Bengaluru – Bengaluru airport is outside Bengaluru. No matter where you live in the city, it takes more than an hour to travel back and forth from the airport by car and the cab fares are enough to burn a hole in your pocket. Of course, there are AC buses and trains that are available, but a good chunk of people catch a cab from the airport.
And when this chunk of people open Uber or Ola at the airport and write down their destination, the cab fares that are shown after that leave them in utter shock. Here’s an example.
A guy took to Twitter to share a screenshot of Uber prices for a ride from Electronic City to Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. The prices range from approximately Rs 2500 to Rs 4000.
“Cost of cab fare is dangerously close to what I paid for the flight ticket,” he wrote.

And it’s true! The cost of plane tickets from Bengaluru to nearby cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune are very close to this bracket.
