Indians are grappling with some serious money issues after the Government demonetised 500 and 1000 rupees, earlier this week. In addition to food and health, commuting from one place to another is giving people a hard time.
Opting for Ola rides is something everyone across the nation is doing, as either you’re out of usable cash or you have your Ola wallet filled with money. But adding to the woes, what would you do if your Ola Autos refuse to take Ola money and demand cash-only rides? To ride or not to ride?
Here’s what the Ola riders, who were refused rides because their mode of payment was Ola money, faced.

On a personal note, on Saturday morning while coming to office, I had to cancel three Ola Auto rides, as the drivers refused to take Ola money. They wanted cash only. While one made me wait for several minutes, only to call and ask me to cancel it because his card doesn’t work and cited bank issue; another one asked, “Aap cash se payment karoge ya Ola Money se?” before evening asking me where I was or where I had to go. He continued, “Nahi le sakte Ola money, madam. Paisa milne mein problem hota hain. ATM mein line bohot lamba hain. Petrol dalane ka bhi paisa nahi hain. Aap cash de do. Nahi toh cancel kardo”.
Since I was low on usable cash too, I do understand their trouble. Luckily, the fourth one didn’t ask me to cancel or the mode of payment, for that matter.
Ola says #DoNoteWorry, but I’m worried
