Rainfall is a little bit like magic. It brings with it a respite from hot weather, childhood memories of dancing in the rain and a craving for a warm cup of hot chocolate. While all of us love humming Bollywood monsoon numbers and tracing raindrops on our window pane, there is one little thing that takes away from all the beauty. And that is congested traffic due to rain storms.
Amidst such a scene, Assam traffic police constable Mithun Das continued to direct traffic at one of the busiest intersections in Guwahati. The lack of a covered podium or raincoat didn’t deter him in the slightest from performing his duty.
Dedication is thy name!
We salute AB Constable Mithun Das (Basistha PS) of @GuwahatiPol , for his exceptional devotion towards duty and showing us how dedication can turn a storm into a sprinkle.
Kudos!

The humble cop manning the Basistha traffic intersection told Hindustan Times,
“My duty hours were from 7 am to 12 pm. The storm started around 5 minutes before noon, but since my replacement hadn’t come, I continued my job in the rain for nearly 20 minutes. It could be a bit scary with the heavy rain, wind and lightning to stand on an uncovered podium. But for us, duty comes first.”
When Assam Police shared the video of this dedicated cop, Twitter rallied up in applause.

In a country that is infamous for its corrupt cops, Constable Mithun Das has reignited our faith in the police force. And also raised some poignant questions about their lack of rain gear. It is high time that our officers are given proper facilities that enable them to do their absolute best on the job.
