Mamaaaa…. just killed a tweet / Put a gun against Fake News’ head / Pulled the trigger, hope it’s dead!
If you recognised those lyrics, you’re probably a die-hard Queen fan who loves their masterpiece of a song, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. And I just assume that, yes, because to know this song, is to love it. Period. And therefore, you’ll be shocked to know of another surprising fellow Freddie Mercury fan, who just pulled off an epic parody of this legendary song to teach people an important social lesson.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Assam Police! Their official Twitter handle just took the poster of the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, with Rami Malek’s face on it, and turned it into a PSA about fake news!
Who could’ve thunk it? But here it is!
The OG poster has the words “Fearless lives forever” on it.
And Assam Police tweeted the same poster but replaced the tagline with “Facts live forever”! That’s not all. They even parodied lines from Bohemian Rhapsody, the song, to drive home the point of saying no to fake news!
Open your eyes,
Look up to the skies and see,
Real life is not a fantasy.Fact check before you forward,
There's no escape from reality.Mama, I don't wanna lie. #DontFakeIt pic.twitter.com/nNxAQc9rDN

For those who aren’t fans or don’t know why this is a big deal, listen up.
The song was written by Freddie Mercury, born of Parsi descent to parents who lived in the Bombay Presidency under British India. Mercury, with his flamboyant on stage persona and four octave vocal range, is regarded as one of the greatest and inducted in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
Mercury wrote Bohemian Rhapsody for the British rock band Queen, of which he was the lead vocalist, for their 1975 album A Night at the Opera. The song is one of the band’s most popular songs, and often considered one of the greatest rock songs of all time.
A Freddie Mercury biopic, which has the song name as its title and stars Mr. Robot actor Rami Malek, released this month and is all the rage on social media right now.
So now can you see why Assam Police perfectly jumping on this pop culture bandwagon is impressive! Twitter was amazed!

Well, we’ve all seen how other states’ police accounts (Mumbai, Kolkata, UP) have been doing a stellar job of using pop culture references in their social media communication to highlight important things. They did it for the Kiki Challenge, wearing helmets, cyber bullying and lots of other such social messages. Looks like they’ve got some healthy competition now!
