Apurva Asrani & Vivek Agnihotri Slam Karan Johar For His ‘Kill Anushka’s Career’ Statement

Recently, an old video of Karan Johar and Anushka Sharma’s interview went viral which is now grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons. In the video, Karan openly admits that he tried to sabotage or kill Anushka’s career and he wasn’t happy with Aditya Chopra casting her for ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’.

“I totally wanted to, completely murder Anushka Sharma’s career. Because when Aditya Chopra showed me her image, I was like, ‘no, no, mad or what, you signing her, you crazy! There is no need for you to sign this Anushka Sharma’. There was another lead actress at that time who I wanted Adi to sign and I was totally behind the scene sabotaging her completely,” he said.

This video resurfaced online at a time around Priyanka Chopra’s allegations against the people of the film industry. In an American podcast, PeeCee opened up about having “beef” with certain people in the industry for which she was cornered and wasn’t cast in several films.

Filmmaker Apurva Asrani, famous for his work in projects like ‘Aligarh’ and ‘Made In Heaven’, gave an explosive interview with a leading daily wherein he claimed that a full-fledged campaign was run against Priyanka Chopra back in 2012 to oust her from the industry.

And now, he shared the video of Karan Johar and Anushka Sharma’s interview and said that it is a worthy point in the insider-outsider debate.

When someone asked him that why Anushka Sharma didn’t raise her voice and laughed while Karan was making these statements, Apurva rightly pointed out that she was sitting next to a man who is one of the biggest producers in the country and has the power to make or break her career.

On the other hand, ‘The Kashmir Files’ maker Vivek Agnihotri slammed such people for breaking careers and said that many run “backroom politics” to get rid of talented outsiders.

“Someone’s only hobby is to make or break careers. If Bollywood is in gutter, it’s because of some people’s dirty ‘backroom’ politics against talented outsiders,” he tweeted.
