The news of Irrfan Khan suffering from high-grade neuroendocrine cancer had taken the nation by shock last year. However, we all took a sigh of relief when Irrfan, after a year of treatment in London, announced that he was healthier and went on to shoot ‘Angrezi Medium’.
The shoot for Angrezi Medium, a sequel to Hindi Medium which released back in 2017, was recently wrapped up and director Homi Adajania took to Instagram to post a heartfelt message for Irrfan and the entire cast and crew of the film.
“I wanted to do this film knowing it would be against the odds. I wanted to do it for all the wrong reasons to make a film but they just seemed so right and still do. It’s been an emotional roller coaster more than anything else and I know how hard it’s been for everyone. Irrfan Khan, you are incredible…and you’re a decent actor as well. I love you more than I know how to say. Thank you to my crew and cast for not letting the odds stack up against us. I truly believe that our collective positivity and celebration of life allowed us this. Regardless of this film’s fate, it’s shown me a lighter way of being and I’ll always cherish this”, he writes.
According to sources, while the first half of the film was shot in Udaipur, Rajasthan, the second half was shot in London. Irrfan allegedly was undergoing treatment even while shooting for the film in London. The Angrezi Medium crew helped Irrfan throughout, making sure he felt no discomfort during his shoots.
“Since Irrfan underwent his treatment in London, it’s only good for him that he is in close proximity to his doctors and other facilities. Also, the crew has been briefed well on his needs and they ensure that they adhere to it completely”, a close source told a daily.
