We are no stranger to stories of airline staffs misbehaving with passengers and the unruly situations that followed in the aftermath. Though an Airline is best known for its service, there has been a significant rise in the cases of misconduct on board in recent times.
Out of all the Indian airlines, Indigo has been the one with most frequent cases of misconduct, while Jet Airways, Vistara, and Spice Jet staffs have also been involved in such wrongdoings. And the latest to join the list is AirAsia.
In a shameful incident that took place on AirAsia’s Kolkata to Bagdogra flight, the travelers were asked to de-board without any explanation by the crew.
According to Hindustan Times, The flight was delayed by 4 hours and staff also misbehaved with a few passengers who were asked to get off the vehicle.
Things turned ugly when the passengers on the flight refused to deplane because it was raining heavily outside. This led to the captain allegedly restoring to extreme measures as he put the AC on full blast in his attempt to drive out the people inside.
Indian Oil Corporation Executive Director (West Bengal) Dipankar Ray, who was a passenger in the same flight said that the move made women passengers nauseous while children started crying.
However, Air Asia tried to dilute the situation by terming the incident as a “normal occurrence” in their statement. It reads,
You can watch the video here:
Air Craft is on fire ..Not exactly. Flight no I5 582 of Air Asia to Bagdogra. First they pushed back, then returned to bay .. then anounced technical snag. Kept stationary for one hour on tarmac to instruct deplaning. When passengers objected, put blowers in full blast to hound passengers out. Simply suffocating kids …No food or water in beteeen. This is the way Aviation industry work in India. This #AirAsiaservice was perticularly scary …Avoid Air Aisia …

Quite expectedly, Twitterati lashed out at AirAsia for their rude and unacceptable behavior giving them a piece of their mind.
@AirAsiaSupport @AirAsia Now I am scared to get into your plane due to recent news of your staff behavior and unapologetic public statement. Should I cancel and avoid your future flights?

Delay for heavy rain can be justified but #airasia should be definitely booked and banned for hounding the passengers on board.

@CNNnews18 #Airasia Same problem we also faced with Air Asia flight 26/5/2018 Flight from Kualalumpur to Singapore. Stranded inside aircraft for more than 2 hrs. Full on AC , no water or food supply provided and no announcement till 10min before flight took off. Pathetic.

The incident can be termed as a disgraceful one on AirAsia’s part. Safety and comfort of the passengers should always be a priority and this was nowhere near.
