“When We Cast Him For Darr, Neither Dad Nor I Really Liked Him.” Aditya Chopra On SRK

SRK

Writer and filmmaker Samar Khan is ready to launch his book on Shah Rukh Khan, titled ‘SRK 25 Years of A Life’. The former has been a friend to the latter for 20 years now. Apart from inside stories, the book also promises documented testimonials from every director SRK has worked with.

Needless to say, there is already a lot of buzz around while people are eagerly waiting to grab their copy.

Incidentally, an excerpt from the book has surfaced and it’s by none other than, Aditya Chopra, the head honcho of Yash Raj Films. To our wonderment, he has opened up about King Khan and his equation with him like never before.

Adi, as he is fondly called, said that Shah Rukh was not the first choice for ‘Darr’.

“Neither of us were very impressed (by him) but somehow, maybe because everyone kept rejecting the negative part, we ended up signing him.”

‘Darr’ later proved to be SRK’s one of the most memorable performance and a stepping stone in his life.

“He had a strange kind of madness in his eyes. that was very exciting.”

The media-shy director also went out to say what only a true friend could have said and understood about the superstar.

“He lost his parents very early in life. I don’t think he ever got over that loss.”

He also believes that Shah Rukh is a store house of potential and that he is the King Khan he is today, for a reason.

“That 90 per cent is still to come and blow us away.”

He also hinted at future YRF ventures that will probably re-introduce Shah Rukh. In ways more than one.

As an ardent fan, all I can hope is Aditya Chopra finds the time to do so and give our favourite, the character of a lifetime. In anyway, this friendship right here is something to be cherished, forever.
