Actor Siddharth Alleges Facing ‘Harassment For 20 Mins’ At Madurai Airport, Twitter Divided

Siddharth Suryanarayan, who just likes to be called Siddharth, is an actor who predominantly works in the Tamil and Telugu film industry. He shot to fame amongst the Hindi-speaking audience after he starred in the film ‘Rang De Basanti’ alongside Aamir Khan. He was born in a Tamil-speaking family so it seems to be possible that his parents aren’t very fluent in speaking the Hindi language.

In a bitter experience Siddharth and his family faced at Madurai airport in Tamil Nadu, the CIFS personnel allegedly spoke in Hindi repeatedly despite being asked to speak in English, reported NDTV.

Siddharth took to Instagram to allege that he was “harassed for 20 mins” and the CIFS made his senior parents remove coins from their bags. When they protested, the CIFS personnel allegedly said “in India this is how it is”.

His allegations left the internet divided. On one hand, there were people who slammed the authorities of Madurai Airport for imposing Hindi on non-Hindi-speaking passengers and demanded strict action to be taken against the CIFS personnel who were on duty.

On the other hand, many pointed out that taking out coins from bags is a regular procedure and not “harassment”, as Siddharth called it. They highlighted how rules are the same for everyone and considering that Siddharth has worked in Hindi films, it is expected it would be okay for him to speak in that language.
