Abhishek Bachchan’s Classic Response To Guy Who Asked Him To ‘Let’ Aishwarya Rai Do More Films

Even though the film ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ isn’t a very memorable one, there was one scene that survived the tides of time and made a lasting impact. Remember the scene where Rahul Bose’s Manav and Farhan Akhtar’s Sunny have a conversation about women’s rights? Manav tells Sunny that up until his father’s generation, no woman in his family worked and that he allowed his wife Ayesha (played by Priyanka Chopra) to run her business.

Sunny then asks Manav why Ayesha needs his permission, after all, when someone has to give another person permission to do something, they automatically place themselves in a position of authority and privilege, and that’s not equality.

Similarly, top actresses in our country, especially those who are married, don’t need their husband’s permission to do a particular kind of work. Deepika Padukone doesn’t need Ranveer Singh’s permission to work in certain films. Alia Bhatt doesn’t need Ranbir Kapoor’s permission to attend the Met Gala. Katrina Kaif doesn’t need Vicky Kaushal’s permission to work in films alongside her ex-partner.

And also, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan doesn’t need her husband Abhishek Bachchan’s permission to work in more films. Surprisingly, it was Abhishek Bachchan who reminded a fan of this when he asked the actor to “let her sign more movies”.

Here’s what I’m talking about. Abhishek recently took to Twitter to praise Ponniyin Selvan 2 and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s performance in it.

To this, a guy commented asking him to take care of his daughter Aaradhya and let Aish sign more films.

To this, Junior Bachchan had a classic response.

“Let her sign??? Sir, she certainly doesn’t need my permission to do anything. Especially something she loves,” he tweeted.

A gentle reminder: In an equal world, a woman doesn’t need to seek a man’s permission.
