Remember that deleted scene from ‘Dear Zindagi’ where a flight passenger takes over Alia Bhatt’s character Kaira’s seat on a flight? The uncle was incredibly entitled and wanted to sit beside his son and expected Kaira to shift seats just because he was older than her. The way Kaira shut him down after that was inspiring.
Here’s a look at the scene in case you missed it:
Something similar happened to a man on a flight that was taking off from Bengaluru. A woman came up to him and asked him if he could move to a different seat so that their family could sit together. He obliged but said that since he had already paid for his seat in advance, she would have to pay him the same amount. This angered her and she left him alone.
“Wonder why she looked so pissed off. What did she expect me to do, jump up & out of my seat?” he wrote on X.
Have a look:
On a flight out of BLR. Someone asked if I could move to a different seat so their family could sit together. I said sure and that I accept cash/GPay, and told her I paid xxx for that seat. Wonder why she looked so pissed off. What did she expect me to do, jump up&out of my seat?

He then went on to add that if anyone wanted to use this trick on flights, since it is a very common thing that happens, they should be prepared for angry looks and muttered insults!
All right, this blew up. Anyone who uses this idea in the future, please be prepared for a REALLY angry look at first followed by a couple of muttered insults, n plenty of mumbling in the flight that is JUST out of decipherable range. Happy Ugaadi/Gudi Padva in advance, everyone!

Responding to his post, there were several others who shared having experienced similar kinds of requests on flights. In fact, the cabin crew has ways in which they tackle such incidents. Here’s a look at some of the responses:
A pilot relative of mine told me it’s fairly common for passengers to try and sneak into business or first class after takeoff and just take a seat. The crew deal with it by pulling out the duty free trolley card machine and presenting the “onboard upgrade bill”
They always go…

We are so used to making flippant demands with an expectation that they necessarily be met just because we requested ‘politely’.

An uncle parked himself in my paid aisle seat and exoected me to go sit in his middle seat. I refused. I came back after a pre take off bio break and he had again parked himself on my seat. I had to yell at him and shame him.

Well done! 👏👏
Let me guess – she offered you a middle seat in exchange?
Not planning ahead combined with an entitled attitude deserves this response. 🤣

It happened to me once (I was on the other side and wanted someone to take my seat in the back row). Promptly offered to GPay the seat fare to him. The man was kind enough to do it.

People expect charity out of nowhere and then of you ask business, you will be culprit.

It’s nothing different to someone putting the indicator to overtake. They think putting the indicator makes them entitled, even if that means someone else has to break.

I always book window seat because I know if I get lucky some entitled kid of a rich parent would be crying for the seat and that’s my opportunity to get my money back, and if they don’t pay I peaceful resume.

Ha..ha.. my wife and I travelled from different destinations to Doha and onwards to Goa. One counter changed my wife’s seat (paid) without even asking. A new boarding pass was given, and we realised of the change only a few minutes before boarding 🤣 @qatarairways

The entitlement that some people have, thinking they can convince a stranger to change their seats on a flight or a train, is mindblowing!
