In October 2015, three men dug a woman’s dead body from her grave and gang-raped the corpse in Uttar Pradesh.
In December 2016, a 28-year-old man was arrested for raping a woman’s dead body in New Delhi’s Sunlight Colony.
In September 2021, a 19-year-old boy murdered an elderly widow and then raped the dead body in Rajasthan.
Like these, innumerable cases have been reported of men raping the dead bodies of women. This is called ‘Necrophilia’ – sexual attraction or performing sexual acts involving a corpse.
So when in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, Gangu asks the women of the kotha to tie the legs of her dear friend who had just passed away because, “Men can’t be trusted, not even with a dead body,” we know that there’s a lot of truth in her statement.
A screenshot of the movie scene was making rounds in the online world, sending shivers down the spine of many who understood what the lines meant.

Of course, there were chants of ‘Not All Men’ in the comments section. But let’s not forget – maybe not all men, but there are enough men.
reminds me of how 2 men in Pakistan were arrested and when reporters asked them reason they said they used to work at graveyard and dig up women’s dead bodies and rape them. thts when i lost faith in men fr

what saddens and disgusts me is that this isn’t just a dialogue but there actually are so many cases like this out there, the truth of this statement just sends shivers down my spine

it’s astonishing to see men defend themselves as if this doesn’t happen; if you’re mad, you’re the problem.

The more i stay on the internet. The more i lose my sanity. Kahan se aati hei itni tharak. Many men are offended with the statement. But to be very honest. I have a young sister. And two nieces. I love them so much. If they came across such demons. I am really very worried

If men had same energy to tell their bros off and respect women, as they have in replies with their “not all men”…
surely, not all men but yes all women. Majority of us have gone through something in life where we lost trust in men in general.

This scene is a reminder of the grim reality that we are all living in.
