Time & again, we’ve seen Bollywood actresses quit the industry after getting married. And, while it’s their personal choice, it’s disappointing to see talented actors abandon the big screen. However, this isn’t the case when it comes to male actors who continue entertaining us even after marriage.
Speaking of which, actor Varun Dhawan recently tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Natasha Dalal. However, while social media was flooded with congratulatory messages for the newlyweds, Tamil actor Shraddha Srinath took the opportunity to make a point about gender discrimination in the entertainment industry.
While sending well-wishes for the duo, Shraddha took a dig at the patriarchy that generally occurs after the wedding of male and female actors. According to News18, the sarcastic post is an allusion to the remarks several professional women are subjected to once they get married.
Her post sure reminds you of the women actors who have faded away from Bollywood after marriage. On the other hand, male actors seem to enjoy a much longer shelf-life.
Many people resonated with Shraddha’s sarcastic post:
want @ShraddhaSrinath to be my best friend because her wit and humour sense is UNMATCHED https://t.co/XA1mgTzxl6

Gotta admit, that’s some balls! https://t.co/K77KjJrIn9

However, many others felt that it was wrong of her to mention this on Varun’s big day.Â
Er… what's there to stan in this? I get her point and puratchi and all, but this isn't the way to do it. There's a time n place for everything. You can't steal n blemish someone else's happy moment just to make a point. Come on, that's basic decency. And she's tagged him too.🤦 https://t.co/yaDBSxFXfw

God bless the ppl stanning her for this !
Good that she intend to expose the double standards of entertainment industry but the way she chose to do it is absolutely wrong! Why tag him?
Are you congratulating or taunting? Ruining newly weds happy moment selfishly https://t.co/2gTDiiKZXe

I agree with everything she wrote but she should have been more graceful about it and made a separate post rather than writing all that in an apparently congratulating post on someone's wedding day? There's a way of communicating things that also matters I think, nvm https://t.co/1JkvJcZs4t

Her opinion, her wish. But could have done in a better and not by tagging the picture of man's wedding! Atleast on his good day, spare him from propagandas. https://t.co/aKgH4ZRlI7

Eventually, Shraddha shared a follow-up post to clarify that she was not mocking the couple.Â
