Large swarms of locusts have invaded many farms in parts of northern India for weeks. The vicious attacks have resulted in the destruction of thousands of hectares of crops in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, reports Business Today. According to NDTV, India’s food security might be in jeopardy due to the severe attacks.

The locusts have even entered residential areas in Jaipur in search of green areas, reports the Indian Express. The migratory pests have also invaded eastern Maharashtra, reports Hindustan Times. The government has now deputed several teams to control the crop-destroying insects by spraying pesticides all over farms.
