Do you remember the first time you traveled in a plane? I am sure, you were filled with curiosity and excitement. Sometimes, first-time fliers end up in awkward situations just like the man who mistakenly opened the emergency exit during take-off. While there are times when rushed passengers forget their babies causing indefinite delays.
But what if a passenger knowingly tries to delay a plane? Annoying, isn’t it? Well, a woman attempted to fake a medical condition to get a bigger seat on a flight, reports NBC. The woman passenger had asked for a better seat while onboard the flight. However, when the airline employees could not offer her the accommodations, she allegedly suddenly fell ill and was in need of medical assistance.
The pilot rerouted the plane due to her illness. According to CNN, the American Eagle flight from Pensacola to Miami returned to the airport around 6:26 a.m. Friday, within an hour of takeoff.
However, upon their arrival, employees realized the woman was faking the illness. While other passengers deboarded the plane, the police were called to escort the woman out as she refused to move. She spoke to the officials and the pilot before finally leaving the plane.
The woman was then taken to a mental health facility under the state’s Baker Act, which allows authorities to detain individuals believed to pose a threat to themselves or others. No criminal charges were filed against her.
We are just relieved to know that no one was hurt or injured during this situation. Also, the next time you crave a better seat, it may be wise to skip the theatrics and pre-book one instead.
