Different people have different ways of celebrating the day they were born. Eating cake, going out to party with friends, taking a trip or enjoying the spa are some of the more common birthday celebrations. But there are unique ways to do it too. Like planting the same number of trees as your age or organising a langar for underprivileged children.
A businessman from Agra, Uttar Pradesh decided to commemorate his 73rd birthday by depositing the penalty amount and ensuring the release of 17 inmates from the district jail.
News18 quoted Superintendent of the district jail Shashikant Mishra saying,
“Motilal Yadav wanted to release some inmates who could not afford bail money. Yesterday, around 17 prisoners were released after he deposited Rs. 35,000.”
Revealing the reason behind his decision, Mr. Yadav said
“My son is an advocate. I have come to know that inmates can be released with people’s support… I have given my contribution. They will not repeat their mistakes in the future.”
