Our civilisation has survived by progressing with the times. We have educated ourselves, corrected our rules and streamlined every societal process to live the best version of our lives. However, by the looks of it, a certain section of our country are hell-bent to revive some regressive norms in the name of culture. Recently, we saw the introduction of the ‘adarsh bahu‘ course. And now, feast your eyes on something more despicable.
According to the Hindustan Times, a BJP party worker went to some extreme lengths to appease MP Nishikant Dubey and that too in full public view.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey was in Godda, Jharkhand for a campaign rally. After concluding his speech, a BJP worker, Pawan, approached him with a brass thali and a lota. And after some brief build up, Pawan went ahead, washed his feet and then drank that soiled water without any hesitation. If you find that unbelievable, it’s all on camera.

NDTV reported that Nishikant Dubey was unfazed by the backlash. He cited examples of Lord Krishna doing the same for Sudama and went a step further by voicing his intentions as well,
“Some day I will get the opportunity of washing Pawan’s feet.”
Dubey further added that those who are trolling him don’t understand the kind of love his supporters have for him. He said it’s a custom to honour guests in Jharkhand like that and that it’s because of supporters like Pawan, he’s in the position he holds today.
Although this is being touted as a sign of our culture, all this is grossly unhygienic and sets some disgusting standards for the youth of India who’s watching it.
