Guwahati Girl Gets Robbed 6 Times In 6 Years Despite Changing Homes, Useless Cops Say ‘Get A Dog’

Being robbed of your belongings can be a traumatic time for anyone. Even being robbed once, throws people into paranoia so bad that they check their locks everytime they leave home. The fear of being robbed of belongings you hold dear to you can really throw you into a frenzy. Imagine the plight of the girl who got robbed 6 times in 6 years!

Yes, as unbelievable as it sounds, this happened to Kaveri Baruah, who is a resident of Tarun Nagar, Guwahati. The girl was robbed in broad daylight around 2:30 pm. Kaveri is an Account Manager at Radio Mirchi at Times Group. She has currently lodged a complaint with Bhangagarh police station.

Kaveri shared a Facebook post where she wrote about the robbery. I can’t imagine how devastated she must be, to find her house in such a condition.

“Bravo! I got robbed again ?The 6th time.
Came back from office and found my flat lock broken. Stuff all on the floor, my things loitered all around. My almirah left opened and my cash all gone (₹2000) and also my phn (unused) ?#badluck”

Since this is not the first time that she has been robbed, she had an updated security system set in place and the thief was caught on CCTV. Here’s the video footage:

She has changed her house 6 times because of the robberies but to no avail. She spoke to G Plus about the incident as well as the person in the CCTV footage. She said,

“I feel targeted and concerned about the security of the people here in the city. Although I am not doubting any one of my acquaintances as of yet, the person caught on the CCTV footage seemed familiar to the owners.”

Storypick spoke to Kaveri and she told us that this never happened when she was in Delhi for her Masters. However, when she arrived in Guwahati during holidays, this is when the robberies started.

You would think that even after possessing so much evidence, the police would have launched an investigation and would be doing their best to catch the culprit(s). But you couldn’t be more wrong.

She shared another post on Facebook which explained the shameful inaction from the police. She wrote,

So basically, unless you’re a big shot. Indian police is not going to help you. Period.

Bhangagarh Police Station: This morning I went to lodge a complaint against the theft happened at my place yesterday at 2:30 pm, to the irony, cops were in no reaction zone. It took them half an hour to decide, who will write the FIR, then they kept us moving from one table to another.

I being impatient, and leaving the hope I spoke about my designation and told about a cousin who is a big shot in Assam Police, then things took a lil speed, and they asked if I want to register the complaint.

Well, of course, I want to, they gave me a form to fill and to all our surprise, the senior officer standing in front of me, his eyes were intact on my chest. (Bro you’re supposed to investigate the thief, not my bra size)

This pissed me off AF then I decided to call our super senior from Times of India, guys that one call from TOI changed the scenario in one second. They called us to the In-charge officer’s room, heard the whole story, took my case and promised to work on it.

Hence’ its no use of being a commoner these days. Fuck acchei din, Fuck – Anti-corruption.

But if they would find a guy drunk, or a girl and boy staying in a room together, taabh unka policegiri full jaag uth ta hei… CRAP!!

#ASSAMPOLICE #GUWAHATI #LOSEHOPE

She also told us that the police has not conducted any kind of investigation and told her to upgrade her security, get her CCTV clear and even told her to get a dog. She also alleged that the police treated the incident as a joke even after she showed them the CCTV footage.

It is extremely unfortunate that even after being the victim of a crime for so many times, she has to face the ridicule and empty promises of the police as well. It is also scary that one person can be targeted so many times and yet not be taken seriously.
