Student Asked PM Modi An Interesting Question, “Are You Nervous About Your Exam Next Year?”

PM Narendra Modi has always been very interactive with students during his tenure. And sticking to his vision of Achhe Din for young India, he held an interesting seminar with students from schools across the country during his “Pariksha Par Charcha”.

During this discussion between the students and the PM, he was asked a question that “brought a smile on everyone’s face!” Class 11 student from Delhi, Girish Singh posed a well put question to the Prime Minister. He said,

“I wanted to know if the Prime Minister, too, is nervous for the board exams that he will be facing next year.”

He said that he too was in class 11 and would be facing the much-feared board examinations in the coming year, and so would Modi. He asked if he was prepared for the fight that lay ahead and if he was ever nervous about what would happen during the 2019 general elections.

Modi was impressed by the question and said that Girish should take up a career in journalism. He added that the entire country with a population of 1.2 billion was with him and hence had nothing to worry about.

According to News 18, he also later added that parents shouldn’t make the achievements of their child a matter of social prestige. Each child has a unique talent which should be appreciated. He also added, “Children in India are born with the streak of a politician.”

He also made a very valid point that the education system in the country fails to acknowledge. He said that he’s always been of the belief that learning and studying are the important aspects of a student’s life. He said,

“This is what should be the focus of your life. Exams, results and marks, these are all by-products. You’ve done your work, the result will come if it has to.”

Modi also said that by chasing after marks we sometimes cannot acquire the things that we actually want to and hone the knowledge that is required. He even added that he follows the same mantra in politics too.

He tweeted the question-answer session with Girish. Watch the entire clip here.

So the PM’s advice for young minds is something all students should remember. Marks and board exams aren’t the end of the world. There is more to learn rather than blindly chasing grades. I would like to give credits to Girish though, that was a very well thought out question. Kudos!
