Vijay Goel has become the laughing stock of Indian sports after the Rio Olympics. Not just him, but every Indian Olympic official who traveled with our athletes for that matter.
While the lower officials screwed up by not doing their jobs at the Olympics, Sports Minister Vijay Goel kept us entertained with his hilarious misquotes.
For example, he misspelled the name of Dipa Karmakar as “Karmanakar” and didn’t really know who Dutee Chand was.
Yesterday was a whole new day for him when he called P V Sindhu and Sakshi Malik gold medallists.
In an interview he gave to ANI news, he said that “gold medallists” Sindhu and Malik met PM Modi

He later defended himself that the mistake he made on National News was just a “slip of the tongue”, and can happen to anyone.
Twitter is not really known to be a benevolent and forgiving platform. Taking into notice Vijay Goel’s previous gaffes too, they burned him pretty well

All this trolling is not without a reason. Sports ministers have to keep abreast with the events that come under their portfolio. They need to know even the tiniest details about sports that happen in India.
Even if our esteemed Sports Minister does not do that, it was common knowledge which medals Sindhu and Malik had won. There is absolutely no way he could have had the slip of the tongue.
Unless he didn’t really care about it. Or he is just too old for the cabinet post.
Rest assured, we will keep you updated for future jokes by him!
