When I was a 9-year-old kid, I was busy worrying about what will happen if Tom wins and eats Jerry. But the story of this kid is different.
Delhi-based Reuben Paul from Austin, Texas is an accomplished hacker, app developer, cyber security expert and the CEO of Prudent Games. And he is just 9 years old.
At such a young age, this CEO, with a vast knowledge on information security is an ambassador for cyber security awareness, especially among kids.
Recently, this Indian-origin speaker was present at the Ground Zero Summit 2015 which is Asia’s foremost information security conference and one of the biggest hacker conferences in the world.
The four-day summit brought together experts from around the globe at the Ashok Hotel with an address by Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Paul, who was the youngest, stood on a chair to reach the microphone and quoted his hero, Spider-Man:
‘With great hacking skills you get power, and with great power comes great responsibility.’
Her mother, Sangeetha shared his son’s interesting story:
‘Reuben was selected for the Gifted and Talented programme (run by the Texas education system) and had to make a game. The others made board games and such like, but Reuben who is passionate about video games, decided to come up with one. That game was about shooting Ninja stars, but I wanted to bring in an element of math so you could only hit the monster if he had the right answer.’
This kid certainly has a bright future ahead of him. It’s stories like his that should give all of us hope for the future of cyber security.
