Twinkle Khanna dons many hats, but that of a producer is the latest addition. After acting, Twinkle is testing waters with her production banner – Mrs Funnybones Movies. And, her very first project is Padman.

Twinkle is known to be vocal about certain issues, and spoke about the problems around menstruation in India in an interview with BBC.

While discussing the problems, Twinkle cited,

For a while she thought that this is a problem is only in India, but she recently discovered that it’s a problem even in England.

When GST was imposed on sanitary pads and not on items of shringaar (i.e. bindi, kajal, et al), there was a legit hue and cry about it. Twinkle furthered that thought and said,

Not only India, but Twinkle also spoke how America too has taxes.

“America in many states has taxes on sanitary pads but not on viagra. Again, I don’t understand.”

Well, she makes sense, and even we don’t get the concept of having taxes on pads. But, also, it is our country where menstruation is still considered a taboo and people don’t use the p-word.

So, we need more and more awareness about menstruation. It’s only when you talk about it, you can make people listen.
