The invisible book of extremely crucial rules to live by dictates that if one has been invited to a wedding, they must never ever upstage the bride or the groom. Wedding invitees, the book suggests, should dress a tad bit less fancy than the couple as it is their big day. You are just not allowed to dress better than the bride or the groom. No questions asked. However, Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor clearly didn’t get the memo.
Tharoor, who makes headlines for weird reasons, was invited to the wedding of one Abhishek Kulkarni in Mahabaleshwar and he, very graciously, upstaged the groom. In pictures that were posted on Twitter, Shashi Tharoor is seen wearing a pagdi and a garland while he stands next to the couple for a picture.
Here’s a look at the tweet:
The man who never fails to bless me in whatever I do, either in person or in spirit. For the most special occasion of my life, @ShashiTharoor travelled all the way & stayed with us for two days in Mahabaleshwar to bless @chahatdalal & me and enjoyed every bit of our wedding 1/2 pic.twitter.com/aKeCG5iR8D

The pictures left several people online confused as for a moment, they thought it was Tharoor who was getting married because, let’s face it, he looks like a dulha.

Its basic that you cannot dress up in such a way that it takes away the limelight off the bride or a groom
