Delhi School Asks Class X Rape Victim NOT To Attend Classes As It’ll Ruin Their Reputation

Rape-Victim-No-School

In our country, being a rape victim is worse enough, but there’s something worst than that – the shaming for the victim and the family that follows. The stink eyes as if it was the girl’s fault or it was she who did something wrong and not the other way around. But, we wanna ask why? Why such mentality?

Another shameful display of this mentality was by a private school in Delhi, who asked a Class 10 rape victim not to come to school. The reason? Because that would bring a bad name to the school’s reputation. WTF!

Oh, there’s more. They have told the victim’s parents that their daughter will only be promoted to Class 11 if she doesn’t attend school. And, the Principal of the “reputed” school has also forbidden the girl’s friends to sit beside her. What the double F!

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) issued a notice to the education department of the school. According to a Hindustan Times report, the girl’s parents said in the complaint,

“The school administration feels that the name of their school will be spoiled if the victim comes to school everyday. The school also said that the administration would not take any responsibility for the girl’s safety.”

The girl, who’s a Class 10 student of a private school, was kidnapped, raped and then thrown out of a moving car.

DCW chief Swati Maliwal told India Today,

“this is a very serious matter. The girl is being punished for no fault of hers and it is a very embarrassing and unacceptable matter in today’s world.”

In the Hindustan Times report, the parents have allegedly said that the school is harassing the girl to the extent that she is not even allowed to avail the school bus service, which she was using earlier. The parents have to pick her up and drop her to school themselves.

Are you serious? This is how a rape victim, that too a teenager, is treated in our country and then people question why things are not changing in our country. This is downright derogatory.
