Rahul Gandhi has been the butt of all memes and “pappu” of all jokes for a very long time. We can’t deny that we’ve all had a good laugh at his expense from time to time. Be it his “every single city in Bangalore” faux pas or making a math calculation error.
Another one of RaGa’s videos went viral on social media for something that’s not even his own words.

“Aisi machine banauga, iss side se aloo ghusega, uss side se Sona niklega. Iss side aloo daalo, uss side se sona nikalo.”
Translate: I’ll create such a machine that from one side potatoes will enter and from the other gold will come out. Put potatoes and take out gold.
Actually, he was taking a dig at Modi’s earlier promise, find the full clip at the end of this article.
But, social media being social media, immediately took it out of context, capitalising on the comment and did what they do best- troll pappu. Meme makers seized the opportunity and because RaGa’s reputation precedes him, the clip went viral.

However, pappu is social media because the comment was taken completely out of context. In isolation, his comment may sound funny and crack you up but the whole story might give you a little perspective.
RaGa’s whole speech in Patan, Gujarat from a few days ago has a backstory to it. He was actually debunking the promises made by the opposition. According to Rahul, they promised the farmers to install machinery to convert potatoes to gold. Watch the full video here:
Fyi.
Don't fall prey to all propaganda machinery.
Always try to listen the whole context. https://t.co/zppeWWEkPQ— Rishi (@Cricview) November 15, 2017
Thanks to McDonald’s for establishing their factories in Gujarat, potato farmers did almost mint gold.
It’s funny how Twitter just finds how to put a funny spin on everything.
