Justin Trudeau Celebrated Diwali In Canada Looking Dapper In A Black Sherwani And OMG!

If Justin Trudeau isn’t your political crush, then we have a problem.

The Canadian PM does so many amazing things (just check his Twitter and Snapchat!) and 9/10 times, he manages to win our hearts! From wearing funky socks that become Internet’s favourites to writing hard-hitting essays about raising his sons to be feminists, there’s no escaping the Trudeau charm.

And now, yet again, he has done something that’ll make all us Indians smile from ear to ear.

Last night, while you were decking up your houses with Diwali decor, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau was celebrating Diwali with full fanfare!

Dressed in a dapper black sherwani and surrounded by Indian diaspora and members of his cabinet, Trudeau lit the ceremonial lamp.

Later, he even posted a picture of the same on Twitter with Diwali greetings.

The night was full of festivities, with several entertaining cultural dance performances for the guests to enjoy.

The ceremonial Diwali puja was performed by Justin Trudeau and he even delivered Diwali greetings to the “strong and vibrant Indian communities” of Canada present there.

The Indian High Commissioner to Canada, Vikas Swarup was kind enough to share snippets of the gala night on Twitter.

But the highlight of the evening was the unveiling of two brand new joint Canada–India stamps!

The party which was named #DiwaliOnTheHill was then moved on to India House, where the guest enjoyed dinner in honour of The Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra, who was present there with his delegation.

All in all, Diwali celebrations came early to Canada and the Indian diaspora there did not disappoint with the grandeur of their celebrations!

But Justin Trudeau’s warmth and enthusiasm while participating in these festivities has to be one our favourite parts of the night! Wouldn’t you agree?
