Jagjit Singh is known for his ghazals. I remember my father listening to his famous ‘Aankhon mein jal raha hai kyun’ during my childhood and therefore, I have grown up appreciating his art and his singing abilities.

He was born as Jagmohan Singh and known as the Ghazal King. He has sung many Ghazals which are famous even today. He was also a polyglot as he sang in numerous languages. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the government of India in 2003. The government of India also released a postal stamp in his honour in the year 2004. He died on October 10, 2011.
