This Brave 11-Year-Old Jharkhand Girl Carried Her Sick Brother To The Hospital For 8 Kms

How many times do you see a little girl carrying her own brother on her shoulder and that too for 8 kilometers?

Meet Malti who resides in Jharkhand and is a tribal girl. She is just 11-years-old and she carried her brother on her shoulder to get him treated as he had a high fever. With no medical clinics in the vicinity, and after being rejected in many medical clinics, she finally took her brother to a nearby hospital (which was 8 kilometers).

She amazed the onlookers, but her brave spirit never fizzled out. She got him treated. On being asked why she did this, she said,”He is my brother and he was in pain. I had to do it.” Malti has no parents. Seeing her brother’s state, she couldn’t let him be and thus, took the effort to carry him.

Watch this video uploaded by India Today. As much as I applaud her for her brave act, the important question that crops up is – Why is there a dearth of medical clinics in Jharkhand? As a matter of fact, not only Jharkhand but many states face a similar scenario. With many political leaders making promises during elections, the promises are not been implemented and that is a bare-faced truth.

How many Malti’s does India need to prove the sorry state of medical services?
