World’s Largest Mosquito Has Been Discovered In China, Just Look At Its Size!

Mosquitoes are known to be creatures which can piss you off at any given time and we can’t help but imagine this world to be a far better place without them. As we struggle to keep up with the daily grind, these noisy flying insects never fail to trouble us a bit more with their disturbing bites.

However, you got to admit that we all are professionals when it comes to killing mosquitoes or at least consider ourselves to be. While we do not hesitate before squashing these tiny creatures with our palms, we are here with something which will make you think twice before your attempt to kill.

According to a report, a Chinese entomologist has just discovered the world’s largest mosquito and it looks ghastlier than you can ever imagine.

The giant insect has been found in the Sichuan province of Southwest China. Zhao Li, curator of the Insect Museum of West China explained that the mosquito belongs to the world’s largest mosquito species Holorusia Mikado. The species was recognized last year in the month of August during a field trip to Mount Qingcheng in Chengdu.

Astonishingly, the mosquito has a wingspan of 11.5 centimeters which is about 10 times longer than that of a normal mosquito. Fortunately for us, these creatures do not feed on blood but nectar. Speaking about the same, Zhao Li added,

“These mosquitoes look horrendous, but do not feed on blood. The adults have a life span of only a few days and mainly feed on nectar. They are weak fliers because of their big bodies. When they fly, it is more like hopping. More often than not, they are found in areas with dense vegetation.”

That was scary! Wasn’t it? However, this is the beauty of the animal kingdom which never fails to amaze us.
