33-YO Homemaker Drives From Kerala To Qatar In Her Thar To Watch The FIFA World Cup

Thousands of football fans are currently in Qatar living their dream of watching their favourite players play at the FIFA World Cup. One of them is a 33-year-old homemaker from a small town on India’s southwest coast Mahe. Her name is Najira Noushad.

Unlike thousands of people who arrived in Qatar via flight, Najira decided to drive her Mahindra Thar instead to reach her destination. Her companions for the trip are her 5 kids, reported Hindustan Times. Her journey started in Kannur, Kerala, and she first travelled to Mumbai via Coimbatore. Then she reached Oman by ship after which a magnificent road trip started where she passed through countries including the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, reported The New Indian Express.

She has been updating her 90K+ followers on Instagram about her journey. Recently, she watched her favourite player Messi play at the Argentina versus Poland match where the former won by 2 goals.

In a world where women, especially desi women, are afraid of travelling alone and going on road trips by themselves, Najira Noushad is trying to spread the message of “safety for women to travel anywhere around the world”. She wishes to inspire other women to travel by themselves as well.

“Travelling to Qatar in my Thar was a dream because I always wanted to be less dependent on others. Though I travel alone, my biggest support system is my husband and mother. My mother who takes care of my five-year-old child is indeed an inspiration. If not for her, I would never be able to do things independently,” she said.

A year ago, Najira and her family moved from Oman to Mahe after which she decided to make use of her time in India by exploring the country. We hope many other women get inspired by her! 😀
