Denied Bike As Dowry, UP Man Posts Wife’s Pic & Number Online, Asks Men To Pay For Sex

Disgusted. That is what I feel every time I hear about a dowry case. After all, it’s 2020 and yet the evil practice still prevails in various parts of the country. However, many people have started taking a stand against the punishable crime but it might take some time to eliminate it completely.

Recently, in a bizarre incident, a man from Uttar Pradesh allegedly put up his wife’s “honor for sale” after his demand for dowry were not met. It all started when Puneet from Thuthia village was unhappy as his demand for a motorcycle was not fulfilled by his in-laws, reports the Outlook India.

The accused allegedly started harassing and beating his wife for the bike. Fed up of the torture, his wife decided to go back to her parents’ house. This further upset Puneet who then supposedly posted his wife’s picture on social media along with her phone number. He went on to ask strangers to pay money to talk to her. He even suggested they ask her for sex.

As his wife started getting the bizarre calls, she lodged a complaint with the Cyber Cell. She even named her husband as the accused. “We arrested Puneet on Monday and he has been sent to jail. This is an unusual case of crime against women and we will ensure strict punishment for the accused,” Sanjay Singh, PRO in the SP office was quoted saying.

The man has been arrested and a case has been registered in this regard. Accepting or giving dowry is not acceptable at all. What do you think of this case? Do tell us.
