Vijay Deverakonda Meets & Apologizes To Theatre Owner Who Labelled Him ‘Arrogant’

Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday’s movie ‘Liger’ opened to a disastrous start after a section of the viewers decided to boycott the movie. Soon, after #BoycottLiger trended online, Vijay gave a statement that didn’t go down well with the executive director of Gaiety Galaxy and Maratha Mandir Cinema, Manoj Desai.

Reacting to people giving his movie a pass, Vijay has said, “I feel that there is no room for fear when I had nothing, I didn’t fear, and now after having achieved something, I don’t think there needs to be any fear even now. Maa ka aashirwaad hai, Llogon ka pyaar hai, Bhagwaan ka haath hai, andar aag hai, kaun rokenge dekh lenge (We have mother’s blessings, people’s love, God’s support, a fire inside us, we will see who will stop us)!”

His statement, “kaun rokenge dekh lenge” came across as arrogant to many including Manoj Desai. This is why, via a video, the furious Desai schooled him and blamed Vijay’s arrogance for the movie’s failure.

After Desai’s video spread like wildfire and reached Vijay, the actor decided to make amends with the exhibitor. Seems like their meeting went pretty well as Desai said he misunderstood his comment.

Desai was quoted as saying, “Yes, he had come to make certain clarifications about his quotes on the ‘Liger boycott trend’. Vijay’s statement, ‘Meri film dekhna hai toh dekho’, has been twisted, edited, and published.”

“What Vijay meant was, 1000 people are working on a film, which also includes spot boys and technicians; making a film is a team effort. We don’t need to take away their bread and butter. In the end, he adds, even if nobody wishes to watch my film, it’s fine.”

Desai has also advised Vijay in his angry video to work for OTT if he has so much arrogance. Reacting to this, Vijay has told Desai:

“I had quoted in an interview, ‘If everyone wants to work on OTT, then stop working in cinema.’ However, Vijay confirmed to me, ‘I will not work for OTT. Whenever I do a film, it will be for theatrical release only’.”

Desai now has no harsh feelings for Vijay as he came to clarify and apologize to him on the suggestion of his dad.

“Since Vijay has clarified about working for the big screen, the issue has been resolved from our end. He has agreed to work for the cinema only and not for OTT. His father told him to clarify with me. His father said, ‘Manoj Desai has been an exhibitor for almost 50 years. Go and clarify with Manoj uncle’.”

Vijay is a true star for doing this. His efforts are much appreciated.
